About Me

What do you really need to know about me?  Let’s see - I currently am going back and forth between Texas and Oklahoma.  I’m a Texas Longhorn alumni and love the great state of Texas.  However - my grandchildren live in Oklahoma City.  So I’m learning to love Oklahoma as well.  I was born in Tennessee and since then have lived in several states and countries.  Some tied to being a military brat at an early age and some due to opportunities that came my way in corporate America.  Those states I haven’t lived in - I’ve either visited or it’s on my bucket list to do so!

I support our military.  Through the years I’ve been a military daughter, mother, sister, niece, granddaughter, aunt and cousin to those that have served.  I’ve helped pack boxes and continue to provide goods to be packed up to those that might need a reminder - we haven’t forgotten about you and care about you.

As a songwriter, I want to tell my story and your story.  Sometimes I write in first person and sometimes from your point of view.  Or even from a third person - a witness to history if you will.

Not everything I write about happened to me.  Sometimes it did - sometimes it’s about a friend or family member telling me a story of what happened to them.  Sometimes it’s a word or phrase from a book, movie, newspaper, TV, magazine, family or friend that took me somewhere else.  A word or phrase that grabbed a hold of my subconscious and wouldn’t let go until I wrote about it.  Check out Random Thoughts.

I’m an avid reader.  I learned to read to escape - it took me somewhere else  - out of my current reality if only for a few chapters.  It gave me hope that things could be different.  I read all sorts of books - my favorite is cozy mysteries and adventurous books - My favorite authors include Janet Evonovich, J Robert Kennedy, James Patterson and Jana DeLeon.  Check out my Book Reviewed for more recommendations.

And unfortunately, I’m gluten free due to a wheat allergy.  While I’m healthier and the gluten free options have improved greatly since I was first diagnosed - it’s still not the same.  So I share some of the old recipes I’ve successfully converted to GF or have found along the way.  Check out Grammy Stone Cooks GF for some recipes and some hints on what not to do!
